Most
modern fire alarm call points operate by smashing a piece
of glass. The glass used is normally real glass, the same
kind used in windows and therefore there is a risk
of injury.
Users
are instructed to break the glass but there is no warning
of possible dangers.
Hammers
are provided with some fire alarms to use to break the glass.
These are often missing causing concern during risk assessments.
Safeglass®
is safe to break by hand, without the risk of injury and without the
need for hammers. If the glass breaks through accident or malice, the
broken pieces can be cleared away safely with no risk of injury to
staff or the public.
